    Product Overview

PolyDADMAC, also known as PDADMAC or Poly(dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride), is a liquid cationic polymer with strong charge neutralization performance. It is widely used in wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, industrial clarification, mining, paper-making, textile, and oil industry applications.

Anaerobic digested sludge is commonly generated in municipal wastewater treatment plants, food wastewater treatment plants, biogas projects, and industrial anaerobic treatment systems. After digestion, sludge structure may become weaker and more difficult to dewater due to fine suspended solids, dissolved organic matter, biological residues, colloids, and high water retention.

Bluwat PolyDADMAC helps neutralize negatively charged sludge particles and colloids. It improves sludge particle aggregation, strengthens floc structure, and supports better water separation during mechanical dewatering. It can be used alone or together with PAM when stronger polymer bridging and higher sludge cake dryness are required.

Application in Anaerobic Digested Sludge Dewatering

Anaerobic digestion reduces organic matter and stabilizes sludge, but the digested sludge still needs efficient thickening and dewatering before disposal, composting, incineration, or further handling.

Bluwat PolyDADMAC can be used in:

    • Anaerobic digested sludge dewatering
    • Municipal digested sludge conditioning
    • Food industry anaerobic sludge treatment
    • Biogas plant sludge dewatering
    • Waste activated sludge after anaerobic digestion
    • Mixed sludge thickening and conditioning
    • Centrifuge sludge dewatering
    • Belt filter press sludge conditioning
    • Screw press and chamber filter press pretreatment
    • Filtrate or centrate clarity improvement
    • Sludge volume reduction before disposal

    Key Benefits

    High Charge Density

Anaerobic digested sludge often contains fine colloidal particles and negatively charged biological solids. PolyDADMAC provides strong cationic charge to destabilize these particles.

    💧Improved Water Release

By improving particle aggregation and floc structure, PolyDADMAC helps water separate more easily from digested sludge during mechanical dewatering.

    Better Clarity

Proper conditioning helps reduce fine solids carryover in centrate or filtrate, lowering the return load to the wastewater treatment system.

    📉Volume Reduction

Improved solid-liquid separation can reduce the amount of water retained in sludge, helping lower sludge handling and disposal volume.

    ⚙️Equipment Compatibility

Suitable for centrifuges, belt filter presses, screw presses, chamber filter presses, and other sludge dewatering systems.

    🧪Flexible Selection

Bluwat provides 20%, 40%, 45%, and 50% liquid PolyDADMAC grades with different viscosity and molecular weight options.

    Working Principle

PolyDADMAC improves anaerobic digested sludge dewatering mainly through charge neutralization and floc conditioning.

    1. Anaerobic digested sludge contains fine biological solids, colloids, organic residues, and suspended particles.
    2. These particles usually carry negative surface charges and hold water within the sludge structure.
    3. PolyDADMAC provides strong positive charge to neutralize particle surfaces.
    4. Destabilized particles aggregate into larger sludge flocs.
    5. Water separates more easily from the conditioned sludge.
    6. Mechanical dewatering produces clearer filtrate or centrate and more manageable sludge cake.

    Recommended Treatment Process

    Anaerobic digested sludge holding tank
    Sludge concentration and pH check
    PolyDADMAC dilution
    PolyDADMAC dosing and mixing
Optional PAM dosing if stronger floc growth is required
    Sludge thickening or mechanical dewatering
    Dewatered sludge cake
Filtrate or centrate returned to system

    Application Method & Guidance

PolyDADMAC should be selected according to sludge source, digestion process, concentration, and equipment. When used alone, it is normally diluted to 0.5–5% concentration before dosing.

For centrifuge systems, grade selection focuses on floc strength and shear resistance. For filter presses, the focus is on drainage speed and cake release.

    Use with PAM

PolyDADMAC and PAM can be used together for difficult digested sludge. PolyDADMAC provides charge neutralization, while PAM provides polymer bridging and floc enlargement. Common practice: dose PolyDADMAC first, followed by PAM.
