    Product Overview

PolyDADMAC, also known as PDADMAC or Poly(dimethyldiallylammonium chloride), is a water-soluble cationic polymer with high charge density. It is widely used as a primary coagulant or coagulant aid in drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, industrial clarification, paper-making, mining, textile, and oil industry applications.

In potable water treatment, raw water may contain clay, silt, algae, natural organic matter, colloids, and fine suspended particles. These impurities are usually negatively charged and difficult to remove by simple settling or filtration.

Bluwat PolyDADMAC 20% Liquid Coagulant provides strong cationic charge to neutralize these particles, helping them form larger flocs that can be removed by sedimentation, clarification, flotation, or filtration.

Compared with higher concentration grades, the 20% liquid series has lower viscosity and easier dispersion, making it suitable for dosing systems that require fast dilution, stable feeding, and uniform mixing.

    Application in Potable Water Treatment

Bluwat PolyDADMAC 20% Liquid Coagulant can be used in potable water treatment systems to improve coagulation and clarification performance.

    Typical applications include:

    Municipal drinking water treatment
    Potable water clarification
    River water treatment
    Lake and reservoir water treatment
    Surface water turbidity removal
    Suspended solids reduction
    Colloid destabilization
Algae and fine particle removal support
    Sedimentation tank performance improvement
    Filter load reduction
Coagulant aid for PAC, alum, ACH, or ferric salts
Pretreatment before filtration or membrane systems

    Key Benefits

    High Charge Density

PolyDADMAC provides strong positive charge to neutralize negatively charged colloids, clay, silt, algae, and suspended solids in raw water.

    20% Liquid Grade

The 20% liquid series has lower viscosity than higher solid content grades, making it easier to dilute, pump, and disperse.

    Improved Turbidity

By improving particle destabilization and floc formation, PolyDADMAC helps reduce turbidity and improve clarified water quality.

    Better Floc Formation

Supports the formation of larger and more settleable flocs, improving sedimentation and reducing solids carryover to filters.

    Reduced Filter Load

Reduces suspended solids entering the filter system, helping improve filter operation and reduce backwash pressure.

    Versatile Usage

Can be used as a primary coagulant or together with PAC, alum, ACH, ferric chloride, or ferric sulfate.

Effective at Low Dosage: Achieve efficient clarification at relatively low dosage after proper jar testing.
Wide pH Adaptability: Works across a wide pH range, making it flexible for different raw water conditions.

    Working Principle

PolyDADMAC improves potable water clarification mainly through charge neutralization.

    1. Raw water contains negatively charged colloids, clay, silt, algae, and particles.
    2. PolyDADMAC provides strong cationic charge to neutralize particle surfaces.
    3. Destabilized particles begin to collide and aggregate.
    4. Larger flocs form during the flocculation stage.
    5. Flocs are removed by sedimentation, clarification, or filtration.
    6. Clarified water quality improves before final filtration and disinfection.

    Application & Selection

    Application Method

When used alone, PolyDADMAC is normally diluted to 0.5–5% concentration based on solid content before dosing. The optimum dosage should be confirmed by jar testing and plant trial.

    Product Selection Guidance

For low to medium turbidity, DA 201 to DA 203 are recommended. For high turbidity or algae-containing water, DA 204 or DA 205 may provide stronger floc formation.

    Use with Inorganic Coagulants

PolyDADMAC 20% Liquid can be used alone or with PAC, alum, ACH, and ferric salts. Combined use may improve floc quality and optimize total chemical consumption.
