    Product Overview

Bluwat BLU DA Series Polydadmac is a liquid cationic coagulant based on Poly(dimethyldiallylammonium chloride), also known as PolyDADMAC, PDADMAC or PolyDMDAAC. It is widely used in wastewater treatment, textile color fixing, color removal, sludge dewatering and industrial water clarification.

In dyeing effluent treatment, wastewater often contains residual dyes, auxiliaries, surfactants, fine suspended solids and colloidal organic matter. These contaminants may cause strong color, unstable floc formation, cloudy effluent and higher treatment pressure on downstream systems.

Polydadmac provides strong cationic charge neutralization. It can neutralize negatively charged dye molecules and colloidal particles, helping them aggregate into larger flocs. These flocs can then be removed by sedimentation, dissolved air flotation or filtration.

In textile processing, Polydadmac can also be used as a color fixing agent in suitable systems. Its cationic structure can interact with anionic dyes and negatively charged fiber surfaces, helping improve dye retention and reduce color bleeding after washing.

This makes Polydadmac a practical chemical for both dyeing effluent treatment and textile color fixing applications.

Why Use Polydadmac for Dyeing Effluent Treatment

Dyeing effluent is often difficult to treat because dye molecules and fine particles can remain stable in water. Many of these pollutants carry negative charges. Without enough charge neutralization, the wastewater may show poor coagulation, weak flocs and unsatisfactory color removal.

Polydadmac has high cationic charge density. When added into dyeing effluent, it helps neutralize negative charges on dye particles, colloids and suspended impurities. This reduces particle stability and supports the formation of larger flocs.

After proper coagulation and flocculation, color bodies and suspended contaminants can be separated more easily. The treated water becomes clearer, and the following treatment units can operate more steadily.

Why Use Polydadmac as a Color Fixing Agent

In textile dyeing and finishing, color fastness is an important quality requirement. Some dyes may bleed or wash out during later processing or washing, especially when fixation is not strong enough.

Polydadmac has a cationic quaternary ammonium structure. In suitable textile systems, it can interact with anionic dyes and fiber surfaces, helping improve dye fixation and reduce color loss.

As a color fixing agent, Polydadmac can be used to support:

    Better dye retention

    Lower color bleeding

Improved washing fastness in suitable systems

Reduced color discharge from textile processing

    More stable textile finishing performance

The exact dosage and process should be confirmed according to dye type, fabric type, bath condition and customer testing results.

Recommended Use for Dyeing Effluent Treatment

The final treatment process should be confirmed by jar test because dyeing effluent quality can vary by dye type, fabric type, auxiliary chemicals, pH, salinity, COD and color strength.

A common treatment process may include:

    1. Collect representative wastewater from the equalization tank
    2. Test pH, color, turbidity, COD and suspended solids
    3. Dilute Polydadmac to the recommended working concentration
    4. Add Polydadmac and mix rapidly for charge neutralization
    5. Add PAC if stronger coagulation and further color removal are required
    6. Adjust pH according to jar test results if needed
    7. Add diluted PAM solution to enlarge and strengthen flocs
    8. Separate flocs by sedimentation, dissolved air flotation or filtration
    9. Check treated water color, clarity and sludge condition

Recommended Use as Textile Color Fixing Agent

For textile color fixing applications, Polydadmac should be tested according to the specific textile process. Important factors include dye type, fabric material, bath pH, treatment temperature, process time and required color fastness.

    A typical evaluation may include:

    1. Prepare treated fabric or dyeing bath sample
    2. Add Polydadmac at different dosage levels
    3. Control bath pH and treatment time
    4. Rinse and dry fabric according to the process requirement
    5. Test color bleeding, washing fastness and fabric handle
    6. Select the most suitable dosage according to performance and cost

    Use with PAC and PAM

For dyeing effluent treatment, Polydadmac can be used alone or together with PAC and PAM.

Polydadmac provides cationic charge neutralization and helps destabilize dye particles.

PAC strengthens coagulation and helps improve color removal and suspended solids reduction.

PAM helps enlarge flocs, improve settling speed and support sludge separation.

This combined program is useful for textile wastewater systems with strong color, unstable flocs, cloudy effluent or fluctuating production wastewater.

    Dilution and Dosage

When used alone for water treatment, Polydadmac is recommended to be diluted to 0.5–5% concentration based on solid content before dosing.

The actual dosage should be determined by jar test. It depends on dye type, color strength, wastewater pH, turbidity, suspended solids, COD composition and treatment target.

The dosing point and mixing speed should be carefully controlled. Polydadmac should be mixed evenly with wastewater during charge neutralization. After flocs are formed, excessive mixing should be avoided to prevent floc breakage.
