    Product Overview

Bluwat BLU DA Series PolyDADMAC is a liquid cationic flocculant polymer based on Poly(dimethyldiallylammonium chloride). It is also known as PolyDADMAC, PDADMAC, PolyDMDAAC or cationic organic coagulant.

For textile and dyeing industries, color control is one of the most important treatment challenges. Wastewater from dyeing, printing, washing and finishing processes may contain reactive dyes, disperse dyes, pigment residues, auxiliaries, surfactants and suspended solids. These pollutants often remain stable in water and are difficult to remove by simple sedimentation.

PolyDADMAC provides strong cationic charge density, which helps neutralize negatively charged dye molecules and colloidal particles. After charge neutralization, the pollutants can aggregate into larger flocs and become easier to separate by sedimentation, flotation or filtration.

In textile processes, PolyDADMAC can also be used as a textile color fixing agent. Its cationic structure helps improve dye fixation performance and reduce color bleeding in certain textile applications. For wastewater treatment, it can be used alone or together with inorganic coagulants such as Polyaluminium Chloride to improve color removal and effluent clarity.

    What Is PolyDADMAC

PolyDADMAC is a quaternary ammonium cationic polymer with high charge density. It is completely soluble in water and is widely used in water treatment, wastewater treatment, textile color fixing, color removal, paper making, mining, oil industry and sludge dewatering.

Because of its high positive charge, PolyDADMAC is especially suitable for treating wastewater that contains negatively charged colloids, dyes and fine suspended particles.

Why PolyDADMAC Is Used for Textile Color Removal

Textile dye wastewater usually contains strong color, high organic load and fine suspended solids. Many dye particles and colloidal impurities carry negative charges, making them stable in water. Without proper charge neutralization, flocs may be small, slow settling or easy to break.

PolyDADMAC works as a cationic flocculant and organic coagulant. It neutralizes the negative charge of dye particles and colloids, reduces electrostatic repulsion and helps form compact flocs. This improves color reduction, turbidity removal and solid liquid separation.

For textile wastewater with difficult color removal, PolyDADMAC is often used before or together with PAC and PAM. PolyDADMAC helps with charge neutralization and color control, PAC improves coagulation and clarification, and PAM helps build larger flocs for faster settling.

Why PolyDADMAC Is Used for Textile Color Fixing

In textile processing, dye fixation is important for improving fabric color fastness and reducing color loss during washing. PolyDADMAC has a strong cationic structure and can interact with anionic dyes or negatively charged fiber surfaces in suitable systems.

As a textile color fixing agent, it can help improve dye retention and reduce dye bleeding. This makes it useful not only for wastewater treatment, but also for textile finishing processes where color stability is required.

The exact application method and dosage should be confirmed according to fabric type, dye type, process conditions and customer testing results.

Recommended Use in Textile Wastewater Treatment

The treatment process should be adjusted according to wastewater color, COD, pH, salt content, suspended solids and dye type. A jar test is recommended before full scale dosing.

    A common treatment process is:

    1. Check wastewater pH and color condition
    2. Add diluted PolyDADMAC solution and mix rapidly
    3. Add PAC if stronger coagulation is required
    4. Adjust pH to the suitable range if needed
    5. Add diluted PAM solution to enlarge flocs
    6. Allow sedimentation, flotation or filtration
    7. Check treated water color, turbidity and sludge condition

For many textile dye wastewater systems, PolyDADMAC can improve the first stage of coagulation and make the following PAC and PAM treatment more stable.

    Dilution and Dosage

When PolyDADMAC is used alone, it is recommended to dilute it to 0.5–5% concentration based on solid content before dosing.

The actual dosage depends on wastewater color strength, turbidity, contaminant concentration and treatment target. The most economical dosage should be confirmed by laboratory jar test.

The dosing point and mixing speed are important. The chemical should be mixed evenly with wastewater, but excessive mixing should be avoided after flocs are formed, because strong shear may break the flocs and reduce settling performance.

    Compatibility with PAC and PAM

PolyDADMAC can be used alone or together with inorganic coagulants such as Polyaluminium Chloride. In textile wastewater treatment, a combined chemical program is often more effective.

PolyDADMAC provides charge neutralization and color control.

    PAC improves coagulation and clarification.

PAM helps form larger and stronger flocs for faster settling and better sludge separation.

Bluwat can recommend a suitable combination according to customer wastewater samples and treatment goals.
