    Product Overview

Bluwat BLU DA Series PolyDMDAAC is a liquid quaternary ammonium cationic polymer based on Poly(dimethyldiallylammonium chloride). It is also commonly known as PolyDADMAC, PDADMAC, Polydadmac or PolyDMDAAC.

Textile wastewater often contains reactive dyes, disperse dyes, direct dyes, pigment residues, surfactants, auxiliaries and fine suspended solids. These substances may remain stable in water and cause strong color, high turbidity and poor clarification. In many textile wastewater treatment plants, color removal is one of the most difficult treatment steps.

PolyDMDAAC has a strong cationic quaternary ammonium structure. Its high positive charge density helps neutralize negatively charged dye particles and colloidal impurities. After charge neutralization, fine contaminants can aggregate into larger flocs and become easier to remove by sedimentation, dissolved air flotation or filtration.

For textile wastewater decolorization, PolyDMDAAC can be used as an organic coagulant, color removal aid or pretreatment chemical before PAC and PAM dosing. It supports more stable coagulation, clearer effluent and better sludge separation.

Why PolyDMDAAC Is Suitable for Textile Wastewater Decolorization

Textile wastewater contains many dyes and fine particles that are difficult to remove by simple settling. These pollutants often carry negative charges and stay dispersed in water. Without effective charge neutralization, the flocs may be small, weak or slow settling.

PolyDMDAAC is a high charge density cationic polymer. When added into textile wastewater, it can quickly neutralize negative charges on dye molecules, colloids and suspended solids. This reduces repulsion between particles and allows them to form visible flocs.

After coagulation, the color bodies and suspended impurities can be separated from water through sedimentation, flotation or filtration. This makes PolyDMDAAC useful for textile dyeing wastewater, printing wastewater, washing wastewater and mixed textile effluent treatment.

    Application in Textile Wastewater Treatment

PolyDMDAAC can be used in different textile wastewater treatment stages, especially where color removal and coagulation stability are required.

    It is suitable for:

    • Textile dyeing wastewater decolorization
    • Printing and dyeing wastewater treatment
    • Reactive dye wastewater pretreatment
    • Disperse dye wastewater clarification
    • Textile washing wastewater treatment
    • Textile finishing wastewater treatment
    • Mixed textile effluent treatment plant ETP
    • DAF system color removal
    • Sedimentation tank clarification
    • Sludge thickening and dewatering support

    Recommended Treatment Process

The treatment process should be confirmed by jar test because textile wastewater quality changes according to dye type, fabric process, pH, salinity, COD, color strength and suspended solids.

A typical chemical treatment process may include:

    1. Collect a representative wastewater sample from the equalization tank
    2. Test color, pH, turbidity, COD and suspended solids
    3. Dilute PolyDMDAAC to a suitable working concentration
    4. Add PolyDMDAAC and mix rapidly for charge neutralization
    5. Add PAC if stronger coagulation and color removal are needed
    6. Adjust pH according to jar test results if required
    7. Add diluted PAM solution to form larger and stronger flocs
    8. Separate flocs by sedimentation, dissolved air flotation or filtration
    9. Check treated water color, clarity and sludge condition

    Use with PAC and PAM

PolyDMDAAC can be used alone, but in many textile wastewater treatment systems, it performs well together with PAC and PAM.

PolyDMDAAC provides strong cationic charge neutralization and helps destabilize dye particles.

PAC improves coagulation strength, color reduction and suspended solids removal.

PAM improves floc size, settling speed and sludge separation.

This combination is useful for textile effluent treatment plants that face fluctuating wastewater color, unstable flocs or poor clarification.

    Dilution and Dosage

When used alone, PolyDMDAAC is recommended to be diluted to 0.5–5% concentration based on solid content before dosing.

The actual dosage should be confirmed by jar test. It depends on wastewater color strength, dye type, turbidity, pH, organic load and treatment target.

The dosing point and mixing speed are important. PolyDMDAAC should be mixed evenly with wastewater during charge neutralization. After flocs are formed, excessive mixing should be avoided because strong shear may break the flocs and reduce settling performance.
